Roberto Martinez has revealed he’s had no communication with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho on the subject of Marouane Fellaini‘s recent injury.
Fellaini suffered a potentially serious knee problem on international duty with Belgium, and will definitely be unavailable for Man United’s Saturday clash against Liverpool.
As well as Anfield away, Fellaini could also miss big games against Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
But Mourinho hasn’t spoken to Belgium boss Martinez, the Spaniard revealed.
“I have not had any communication with Jose Mourinho on the subject of Marouane,” he said.
Mourinho is facing a minor midfield crisis ahead of Saturday’s game, with star man Paul Pogba remaining sidelined for some weeks yet.
Phil Jones, though, is fit for selection amid fears a knock suffered that forced him to withdraw from the recent English squad could rule him out.
Romelu Lukaku is also fit, but may be in action for Belgium on Tuesday night in their final 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier. The Red Devils have already qualified, and so need not risk United’s top goalscorer, but may still do so.
Lukaku has just suffered an injury and so it would be irresponsible of his national team to potentially aggravate that ahead of a huge run of fixtures for his club.
