Sadio Mane set to miss Manchester United clash with hamstring injury

Jose Mourinho has received a massive boost ahead of Manchester United’s trip to Anfield after it was confirmed that Sadio Mane would be out for six weeks with a hamstring injury.

The Portuguese received a major set-back over the weekend when Marouane Fellaini picked up a knee ligament sprain during a 4-3 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

But Liverpool have arguably suffered an even bigger blow following an injury to Mane that forced him off during the latter stages of Senegal’s 2-0 win over Cape Verde.

And it was confirmed on Tuesday that Mane would not just miss the clash on Saturday but indeed six weeks of action altogether.

This is a huge blow for Liverpool. Klopp still has the likes of Roberto Firmino, Philipe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge to call upon, but the psychological blow that comes with losing such a clinical, influential talent will be palpable.

Mane has what it takes to rip you apart with one swift move. He can make your defence look average on his day, and Liverpool’s best homes of getting past United were always going to lie with the Senegalese international and Coutinho combining in the final third.

That said, Man United supporters should not assume that Liverpool will not be a force going forward on Saturday. With the Anfield crowd behind them, they can give any visiting side jitters.
