Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Luke Shaw were not with the Manchester United squad that checked into the Lowry Hotel ahead of Saturday’s trip to Huddersfield.
The Armenian has been a regular presence in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI this season, making 12 appearances in total, but has recently come under criticism for ineffective displays against Liverpool and Benfica.
Shaw, on the other hand, hasn’t played since coming on at half time during the 4-1 win over Burton Albion last month but did travel with the Man United squad to Lisbon.
M.E.N‘s Samuel Luckhurst has confirmed that the pair weren’t present with the rest of the squad as they arrived at the Lowry on Friday afternoon.

Shaw’s absence shouldn’t be newsworthy. The defender wasn’t even included in the match-day squad against Benfica and still appears to be miles away from the starting XI.
Mkhitaryan, on the other hand, is a far more ambiguous case: Mourinho didn’t mention any injury to the 28-year-old at his press conference and may instead be reacting to what has been a bout of seriously poor form.
