Manchester United led Swansea 1-0 comfortably at half time in the League Cup thanks to Jesse Lingard grabbing the goal to put his team ahead.
Given an opportunity to impress after Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata‘s form have both dwindled, Lingard grabbed his chance with both hands.
He utilised his pace but more impressive was his movement- dropping deep, working the channels and getting beyond his strikers to provide some much needed dynamism to United’s attack.
Jesse has been a bit of a forgotten case at Old Trafford lately but Jose Mourinho and fans will surely not get over his performance quickly.

Think it’s harsh some of the criticism Jesse Lingard receives. He might not be a luxury first-team starter, but has a good use in the squad.

Very nicely worked goal! Brilliant touch from Rashford and surprisingly clinical from Lingard. 🔥

After Mkhitaryan’s bright start to the season, many fans were confused as to how Lingard fit into Mourinho’s plans as the Armenian looked undroppable.
However, Henrikh’s performances have dropped just as quickly as they rose and Jesse suddenly has a chance to finally become a regular for Manchester United.
The soon-to-be 25 year old has flirted with the Red Devils starting line-up many times during his career but hasn’t fully secured his spot as of yet.
He’ll surely be keen to go from ‘useful rotational’ option into a regular starting player and what better time than now to give it all he’s got?
Against Swansea he was lively and if he wishes to succeed under Jose, he’ll have to keep up his recent improvement in form to make him undroppable.
