Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has claimed his former player Nemanja Matic will not care about past relationships when both teams face off on Sunday.
The Red Devils take on Jose Mourinho’s former team in a match that’s been talked about for it’s revenge aspect.
Both Mourinho and Matic are apparently keen to get revenge on the Blues if the media was to be believed but the pair have already talked about keeping things professional and forgetting past relationships.
Since arriving at Old Trafford, Nemanja has been a regular player and a top performer, perhaps impressing than any other of his teammates.
Conte also agrees that all ties and connections go out the window once the two clubs face each other in what will surely be a heated encounter.
According to Metro, Antonio said: “I think in this time, you see only opponents. An opponent. I think this is the right way.
“It will be the same for Matic in the other side. I think he doesn’t care, he doesn’t care.
“The most important is to play for your place, to play for your club, to play for your fans. This is the most important thing now.”
Both clubs will surely look to secure three important point as Chelsea attempt to put behind themselves a frustrating start to the season whilst Manchester United try to prove their title worth.
A win against the Blues helps Mourinho’s men keep up with Manchester City and at the same time push the London club further down the table to compound on Conte’s miseries.
Jose will also be keen to get through a tough set of fixtures unscathed with a draw against Liverpool, win against Tottenham and three points against Chelsea representing a good run of results against the Premier League’s best.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba both close to returning, United could put a winning streak together as they head into the tricky winter period.
