Manchester United fans were hugely frustrated with Ander Herrera‘s performance vs Chelsea at Stamford bridge as the Spaniard struggle to deal with the Blues’ threat.
Herrera started in a midfield pairing alongside Nemanja Matic and it was the Serbian who shone, almost single handedly saving United.
The Red Devils were up against a Chelsea midfield three and that required both the above mentioned players to be in fine form to withstand the extra man’s threat.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan was also available in the number ten position but was anonymous for the majority of the game and would’ve been better off on the bench.
Ander’s display though was a far cry from his dominant performance last season against Chelsea and such has been his fall from grace.
Disappointing game from Ander Herrera. Normally rises to the occasion but had very little influence today and was outplayed. #FullTimeLiam

Herrera is beyond shocking this season.

Fans didn’t hold back with their disappointment in last season’s player of the year and with Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba both likely to be available after the international break, Herrera may not get a sniff of first team action anymore.
Chelsea’s midfield were clearly dominant and Matic needed far better from his teammates but was ultimately let down.
The former Atletico Bilbao man wasn’t given the same task of man marking Eden Hazard as he did so brilliantly last season and it showed as Herrera looked lost on the pitch.
Tiemoue Bakayoko was absolutely miles ahead of Ander and embarrassed him time and again throughout the 90 minutes of the match.
With the tricky winter period coming up, the Spaniard will be hoping to end his poor form and to help United still keep their title challenge alive.
