Former Red Devil legend Rio Ferdinand did not sugar coat his criticism of the club’s defenders and took to Twitter to express his thoughts.
The former England international was a huge key figure at Manchester United during the side’s more successful and trophy laden years.
Ferdinand was a top centre-back and knew exactly what it took to represent one of the country’s biggest clubs and United have arguably struggled to replace him since he’s moved on.
Fans were hardly pleased with much of Jose Mourinho’s players performances but Rio took particular aim at the club’s defenders.

Despite a five man back line, United showed their naivety in the 3-5-2 formation Mourinho had set them up in as Chelsea displayed their experience of the set up.
Alvaro Morata was talked about for the majority of the pre-match talk as he and Romelu Lukaku both had opportunities to prove their worth in the game.
Morata managed to score a beautiful header and despite a decent shift, Lukaku couldn’t find the net himself as his goal drought continues.
Alvaro is not the type of player who can be left unmarked and none of United’s three centre-backs were to be seen as he punished their poor positioning much to Rio Ferdinand’s dismay.
