Paul Pogba has hailed his Manchester United and France teammate Anthony Martial as one of the best places ever seen.
Martial has had a mixed career already, at the age of 21. When he arrived at Man United, he took the Premier League and the club by storm, scoring on his debut against Liverpool having already been doubted before he’d even kicked the ball at the club.
He went on to score 17 goals the Reds that season, as top goalscorer for the club at the age of 19. His £36 million pricetag was quickly forgotten, but his form dipped the following season with the arrival of Jose Mourinho as manager, and so did his confidence.
The Frenchman appears to be back in form now, though. Speaking to MUTV, Pogba said, “Anthony is a big, big, big talent. He’s a talented player – one of the best players I have ever seen or trained with.
“He will improve a lot and you are going to see even more of Anthony, I’m sure.”
Martial came on for France on Friday night as a late substitute for goalscorer Olivier Giroud in Les Bleus’ 2-0 win against Wales. He was overlook for his national side back in October despite excellent early season form.
He’s also far too infrequently played at United, though that’s down to, in part, the performances of Marcus Rashford. He needs more games, for club and country, because when he is given the chance, he’s impressing once more.
