In the most bizarre news story of the international break, Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal are reportedly interested in Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini.
The Belgian midfielder originally struggled to win over fans at Old Trafford but Jose Mourinho has managed to bring out some decent performances from the player and in turn supporters have responded positively.
Mourinho has been clear on his stance with Fellaini, considering him a key player for the team and protecting him at all costs from critics.
Marouane himself has insisted he’s willing to do whatever it takes for the Red Devils and appeared to be happy under Jose’s management.
However, recent reports have turned the tide and it now seems as though the robust footballer may leave United on a free transfer.
According to The Express, the Gunners are interested in him but only if it means signing him for free when his contract ends in the summer.
Fellaini will be free to speak to foreign clubs once the January transfer window opens but Arsenal are willing to wait until domestic clubs are allowed to negotiate with him.
By then it may be too late with strong rumours of interest coming from Turkey for Marouane who may surprisingly have a host of clubs knocking on his door.
Mourinho himself has already spoken of his concern about the unconventional midfielder’s contract situation but recent reports have indicated that the Belgian is unwilling to sign an extension.
It appears as though Fellaini is only interested in securing first team football and is willing to leave Old Trafford in order to be guaranteed it.
