Jose Mourinho’s agent Jorges Mendes has held formal talks with Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli over the possibility of adding the midfielder to his clientele ahead of a big move away next summer, according to reports.
The super-agent has worked with Mourinho since 2004 and brokered his move from Porto to Chelsea in the same year.
He has also overseen Cristiano Ronaldo’s world record £80m move to Real Madrid from Manchester United’s and Angel Di Maria’s transfer in the opposite direction back in 2014.
And according to the Mail Online‘s Sami Mokbel, Mendes has contacted a member of the midfielder’s family about the possibility of adding him to his esteemed list of clients.
The first thing that springs from this development is, of course, Alli’s links with Real, who are thought to be interested in the Englishman, and how Mendes would help facilitate any future deal.
You get the impression that Alli views Spurs as a starting place – a springboard, if you will – in preparation for something much greater. He is a man with natural confidence and, by extension, a burning desire to establish himself at the very highest level.
And Mourinho, just like Mendes has, might well pick up on this and put his strong relationship with his agent to good use next summer.
