Manchester United and boss Jose Mourinho are reportedly interested in bringing over ‘unsettled’ Real Madrid star Luka Modric.
The pair worked together during Mourinho’s time at the Spanish capital and it is said that he still admires the Croatian.
Modric arrived at Madrid to huge criticism with some fans and pundits believing that he did not have the ability required for the club’s level.
Soon enough though Luka proved his worth to the Bernabeu faithful and is currently a key figure in Zinedine Zidane’s side.
The midfielder’s mix of playmaking and defensive awareness has made him an important part of the Real Madrid engine room but it seems as though his time at the club may be coming close to an end.
According to Diario Gol, Luka Modric has already told his teammate and Spanish international Sergio Ramos that he will leave next summer.
There has been no talk about why the Croatian is unsettled but there could be a few factors as to him deciding to move on.
Modric is now 32 years old, meaning he is now in the latter stages of his career and is perhaps feeling the heat from younger players trying to break through into the first team.
Interest from Inter Milan and Tottenham along with Manchester United might’ve been enough to unsettle the player who might feel he would be more valued elsewhere.
Another factor could be the club’s inconsistencies in the La Liga, where fierce rivals Barcelona currently lead the table.
There has been talk of the Real Madrid squad needing to be refreshed after their trophy haul last season and perhaps Luka feels as though he’s expendable.
