Manchester United fans felt encouraged by French star Anthony Martial‘s performance vs Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils ran out 1-0 winners of the match, putting in an uninspiring but gritty display to bag all three points.
Martial didn’t end up on the scoresheet and will be a little bit frustrated with himself having missed a sitter but was particularly impressive in the first half.
United’s lack of mobility in midfield is always evident in the absence of Paul Pogba but Anthony was happy to pick up the slack himself, often dropping deep to receive the ball and play an incisive through ball.
The former AS Monaco man was helped by Luke Shaw‘s marauding and overlapping runs on the left flank, creating space that he could exploit with ease.
Literally everything positive has come from Martial 🤣🤣. He was dropping deep to play line breaking passes too at one point ffs

The youngster has proven himself more adept at forming partnerships than perhaps Marcus Rashford has in his time at the club.
Martial has shown good link up play with Romelu Lukaku, whether as a striker partner or as a left winger cutting inside.
His willingness to drop deep receive the ball allows his full-back to overtake him, creating overloads in United’s attack.
This tendency has seen a partnership between himself and Luke Shaw begin to blossom and even Mourinho will surely become excited at the prospect of that young and dangerous duo fit and firing together.
