Manchester United fans were cautiously optimistic with Scott McTominay after his performance vs Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

The youngster started in United’s Premier League match and grew into the game as it went on, impressing supporters and Jose Mourinho alike.

Fans though were quick to not hype McTominay up too much and instead allow him to gradually grow into a successful first team player.

Mourinho has praised the academy product’s composure and maturity with the Scotsman surely being handed minutes that otherwise Andreas Pereira would’ve received.

Either way, Old Trafford were pleased to see one of their own start a competitive fixture and come out at the end of it in a positive light.

The player’s partnership with Nemanja Matic is one that definitely should be explored further by Jose in any possible matches.

Although, undoubtedly, the Portuguese manager’s first choice midfield partnership is Paul Pogba and Matic, Scott provides an interesting alternative.

While he may not be as creative as Pogba, he’s certainly better defensively and is more than capable of playing a good pass when given the option to.

His youthfulness and mobility is also something that’s welcome to a United engine room severely lacking in good movement.

The Red Devils’ attackers are often dropping so deep for the ball that they can be seen standing alongside the team’s defenders rather than taking up better positions further forward.

This seriously damages Manchester United’s attacks and Mourinho will certainly be pleased to see himself with additional options in McTominay if needed.
