Marco Asensio open to the idea of Old Trafford switch: report

by Marwan Harraz

Real Madrid star Marco Asensio is reportedly interested in a move to Manchester United after recent events in the Spanish capital.

Asensio is highly regarded at Madrid but it appears as though the young wonder-kid is keen to prove his worth elsewhere.

Since breaking into the first team, he’s a had a knack for scoring goals of extreme difficulty and the Bernabeu have grown to love him.

However, recent fixtures has seen him drop back down to the bench and he’s seemingly taken it poorly if reports are to be believed.

Zinedine Zidane’s apparently a fan but would not deem the Spaniard as a huge loss should they receive a record bid for him.

According to Diario Gol, Marco is willing to quit Real Madrid in order to achieve first team football elsewhere and Manchester United are one of the clubs he’s considering.

Reports claim he’s interested in the English Premier League and believes he would be regularly involved in the first team at Old Trafford.

United’s current attacking talent involve Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Juan Mata, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard.

However, recent rumours have surfaced of Mkhitaryan’s fall from grace with Jose Mourinho and Juan Mata is apparently on the expendable list.

Mourinho seemingly plans for Rashford and Martial to eventually become the club’s main strikers, opening up space for Marco Asensio to play anywhere on the flanks or in behind the forwards.

Should the transfers above transpire, there would be plenty of room for Asensio to develop in but the Spaniard wouldn’t be the first man to use United’s name in order to engineer a bigger contract for himself at Madrid.
