Nemanja Matic delivered a commanding display in the middle during Manchester United’s 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.
The Serbian broke through the lines to unhinge West Brom’s defensive rearguard and give Marcus Rashford the space to locate Romelu Lukaku with a superb cross after 27 minutes.
And he continued to dominate midfield proceedings at the Hawthorns with his smart movement and effortless control on the ball.
A quick glance at Matic’s numbers from the game tells you all you need to know about what was another all-round convincing display in the middle.

The first 25 minutes at the Hawthorns served as another damning indictment of the creative deficit in this side whenever Paul Pogba isn’t on the pitch. United looked pedestrian, predictable in their approach, seemingly willing to sink to the unimaginably low standards set by their hosts.
But Matic, like all big players, turned the game in his side’s favour with some boldness and smart execution, stepping forward from defensive midfield and adding a different dimension to United’s attack to give them a vital edge that ultimately proved enough to claim three more points.
Supporters will just be delighted to see the Serbian line up alongside Pogba – who has now served his suspension – against Leicester City.
