Former Manchester United defender Steve Bruce has hailed Jose Mourinho, insisting the Portuguese manager is the correct man for the job.
Bruce is currently a manager himself, taking over Championship side Aston Villa back in 2016 and attempting to restore the team back to the Premier League.
Mourinho meanwhile is trying to restore something of his own, aiming to take United back to their former glory in their dominant period under Sir Alex Ferguson’s leadership.
Two managers have failed since the legendary Scotsman retired from football with David Moyes and then Louis Van Gaal both unsuccessful in steering the ship right.
The English boss though has reassured fans that the Red Devils have the right person for the huge task ahead in the Portuguese manager.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Steve said: “I’m the biggest Jose Mourinho fan there is. What he has won, what he has achieved over the last 15 years – nobody will want him to leave Old Trafford I wouldn’t have thought.
“He is the right man for the job. He gets harshly criticised. He is an unbelievable manager. How we can criticise him is quite unbelievable really.
“He won two trophies last year and if he stays in charge then Man United will get back to where they ought to be.”
Mourinho has had to endure a rather unusual season in his second campaign as manager at Old Trafford, with fierce rivals Manchester City performing extraordinarily.
The Citizens are currently unbeaten and lead the league table by 15 points with Manchester United currently in second place.
Jose has been told that he’s been unfortunate that Pep Guardiola’s side are just having an abnormal season and in ‘normal’ circumstances would’ve seen his own team at the top.
The Red Devils matched City for much of the start of the season but soon stumbled and have been unable to be consistent since.
In fact, United have only just gotten over a winless run by defeating Everton at Goodison Park after a tactical switch proved to reinvigorate the side.
