Manchester United are interested in Paris Saint Germain forward Lucas Moura but no bid for the Brazilian has been made, according to sources at Sky Sports.
Jose Mourinho’s interest in signing a winger dates back to the summer, with the club making an unsuccessful bid to capture Ivan Perisic, and has reportedly expressed a desire to bring Moura to Old Trafford on loan.
Reports in France claimed on Tuesday that PSG were reluctant to sanction a loan deal, prompting Man United to reach an agreement with the 25-year-old over a permanent transfer.
According to Sky Sports, however, United have established interest in the forward, who hasn’t started a game under Unai Emery this season, but no bid has been made despite talk of a potential £20m deal.
The French side would be open to selling Moura, who has fallen down the pecking order over the last year, as they look to satisfy FFP requirements ahead of the summer. United would be able to use him in the Champions League knockout stages given that he didn’t play in any of PSG’s group games.
His slump in form over the past year is a concern, and perhaps why Mourinho initially only wanted him on loan, but if United can sign him for so cheap and deploy him as a fresh alternative to Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial then it would be a shrewd piece of business.
