Tony Gale: Lucas Moura has what Manchester United needs, would be good signing

by Marwan Harraz

Sky Sports pundit Tony Gale has backed Manchester United’s reported move for PSG star Lucas Moura, believing the Brazilian winger has attributes the club desperately needs.

Moura has been linked heavily with the Red Devils since the start of the January transfer window with initial reports claiming that Jose Mourinho only wanted to sign him on loan.

The French giants though are unwilling to negotiate unless it means a permanent transfer as they look to offload some of their stars.

United are said to still be interested in Lucas and are happy to turn his move into a permanent one since the player appears keen on coming to Old Trafford.

Gale insists the move suits all parties involved and there are a number of factors why Mourinho will benefit from signing the wide-man.

According to Sports Review, Tony said on Sky Sports: “I’ve seen quite a bit of Lucas Moura in the Champions League and he’s a very good player.

“He’s got that all-important pace that you feel Manchester United still need. OK, they’ve got Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard but Lucas has got a little bit more experience.

“He’s a bit older than those players. I think he’d be a good signing for Manchester United.”

As Tony Gale says Manchester United’s front four can be filled with the following options- Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

If one was to assume that there should be two players per position, as is the case at most top clubs, Manchester United are actually short of a player.

It would then make sense why Jose has asked for a winger since last summer, particularly as none of the above players are natural wingers.

In terms of pace however, United are blessed with Lukaku, Martial, Rashford and Lingard but whenever the Portuguese manager has squeezed all of them into the starting XI’s front four, someone is always out of position and uncomfortable.
