Manchester United have announced the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal as part of a straight swap deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The Chilean, heavily touted by Manchester City in the summer, appeared set for the Ethiad until Man United came in with an improved financial package alongside the Armenian playmaker.
In the end, despite complications in negotiations, the move was a straight swap with no money involved and both players had their medicals on Sunday.
And the club confirmed at 18:00 GMT that Sanchez, Arsenal’s top scorer last season, had officially arrived at Old Trafford.

As the video implies, Sanchez is finally here to start the show. All the talk about his wages can stop now and the watching world will look on eagerly to see whether Man United’s new No.7, a new driving force in attack, can ignite Jose Mourinho’s men going forward.
This is nothing short of a miracle stroke by Ed Woodward, who has managed to pluck Arsenal’s biggest goal threat from their ranks, the talisman for his club and country, for the price of Mkhitaryan – a player with unquestionable talent but not the capacity to deliver constantly on a big stage.
Sanchez, on the other hand, belongs at this level. This is somebody who will relish the challenge of the No.7 shirt.
