Alexis Sanchez: David de Gea is one of the best goalkeepers in the world

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United’s new signing Alexis Sanchez hasn’t wasted any time in revealing who he’s most looking forward to playing with and it’s no surprise that he’s chosen David de Gea.

The Chilean finally completed his move to Old Trafford with Henrikh Mkhitaryan departing the other direction to Arsenal’s Emirates.

Sanchez has played alongside some of the world’s best players, particularly during his time at Barcelona and arrives at United with huge enthusiasm to do well.

The talented winger took on the iconic number seven shirt and will certainly walk straight into the Red Devils’ starting line-up with ease.

He’ll get the opportunity to feature alongside the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba but it was De Gea who he chose as the one he’s most excited to play with.

According to Team Talk, Alexis said: “I’ve not had the chance to get to know them personally or spend time with any of my teammates up to now, but of course I know them from having played against them in the past.

“I believe that David De Gea is one of the best goalkeepers in the world right now. He’s a player who I’ve always found it hard to score past, and so for me he is right up there with the best keepers in the world.”

Jose Mourinho has plenty to ponder on how to get the best out of his star signing but he’ll be happy to know he’s got a versatile player on his hands.

Capable of playing anywhere in the front four positions, Alexis Sanchez can potentially make any spot in the starting XI his own if he wished.

However, based on current form and where he’s likely to play, the Chile international may find himself out wide on the right flank.

Anthony Martial has recently occupied the left wing position to good effect whilst Lukaku has undoubtedly been the club’s first choice striker so far.

Jesse Lingard‘s own good form has seen him hold the attacking midfield position ahead of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata so it is the right wing that Sanchez will most logically feature in.
