Manchester United and Manchester City look set for an outright battle to sign Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri this, according to reports.
The Ivorian midfielder, handed the award for best African player in France last season, came close to joining Barcelona in the summer only for the deal to fall through at the last moment, leaving him devastated.
He has been strongly linked with a move away and both Manchester clubs, along with Liverpool and Chelsea, are reportedly interested in securing his signature next month.
And according to the Mirror‘s David McDonnell, Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho will go head to head in an attempt to secure the midfielder’s signature before next Wednesday’s deadline.
Seri only has 18 months left on his contract, diminishing Nice’s bargaining power, with a release clause of around £35m and looks destined for the exit door sooner rather than later.
Whether any deal to sign him will be done over the next week remains to be seen. Both managers may hold fire until the summer before moving for a player who would, no doubt, improve any team in the Premier League with his diligence and vision in possession, serving as the perfect replacement for Michael Carrick.
