Paul Ince backs Manchester United’s interest in Tottenham’s Danny Rose

Former Manchester United player Paul Ince has backed his former club’s interest in Tottenham star Danny Rose as speculation continues to heat up.

The English full-back has been tied to the Red Devils since the summer with reports emerging of Jose Mourinho’s apparent lack of faith in Luke Shaw.

Nothing happened when the transfer window shut and now as the January transfer window is coming to a close, stories have started to pile up on Rose’s potential move to Old Trafford.

The 27 year old was supposedly United’s top transfer target for the left-back spot but Tottenham seemed eager to hold onto their player unless Mourinho parted with a large sum of money.

Ince though has backed the club’s interest in Danny and believes the position should be one of the priority areas to invest in as soon as possible.

According to the Sport Review, Paul said to the Manchester Evening News: “It sounds brutal, but that left-back area will surely be one of Jose’s priorities.

Matteo Darmian has been far from impressive, and I still don’t believe Mourinho thinks Shaw is the answer.

“Danny Rose is a name that keeps popping up, with him not getting a game at Tottenham, and he would be fantastic at United. If I was Mourinho, I’d be looking to sign him.”

Paul Ince’s enthusiasm for Danny Rose is a little strange given how well Luke Shaw has recently performed for Manchester United.

Although it was said at one point that Jose lost faith in him, the manager has since praised him and has clearly been won over by his efforts.

Stories continue to linked United with other top left-backs but they’re likely to just be mere speculation given the youngster’s great form.

Shaw was initially brought into the club to become a legend in the full-back position over the next decade and that possibility still remains should he continue to apply himself as he has done in recent matches.
