Manchester United legend David Beckham couldn’t contain himself when discussing the club’s latest star signing Alexis Sanchez.
The Chilean international completed a move to Old Trafford in a straight swap deal that involved Henrikh Mkhitaryan leaving in the other direction.
Fans have called the transfer the bargain of the season given that no cash was involved in the negotiations and the quality of player they managed to snag.
United somehow convinced Arsenal to give up perhaps their best player in return for Mkhitaryan who has struggled since his arrival last season.
Beckham, who occupied the same legendary number seven shirt that Sanchez does now, reacted just like supporters have and is completely excited over the transfer.
According to the Press Association, David said: “I’m a Manchester United fan so I’m excited having someone of his [Sanchez] talent wear the shirt. It’s exciting time for us.”
Concerns have been raised however of the position in which Alexis Sanchez will feature in and what it could potentially mean for the club’s current crop of young stars.
Jose Mourinho though is a manager who loves flexible players and Sanchez’s versatility will surely be used to it’s full extent during his time at Manchester United.
Capable of playing anywhere along the front four of the club’s attack, it’s likely that supporters will see him play on the right flank.
Given Martial’s incredible form and that Romelu Lukaku is undoubtedly the club’s number one striker, it’s tough to think he would replace either one.
Jesse Lingard has also been remarkable as an attacking midfielder this season whilst the right wing position has predominantly been occupied by Juan Mata who has had a relatively underwhelming season.
