Manchester United fans were impressed by Juan Mata‘s display vs Huddersfield after he assisted Romelu Lukaku’s opening goal.
The Spanish international has had some tough moments this season as he’s had his quality doubted by some sections of supporters.
Alexis Sanchez’s arrival has also seen Mata being linked once more with departing the club despite Jose Mourinho’s insistence that there’s no truth to the rumours.
Fans will certainly be pleased to see the former Chelsea man remain at Old Trafford and will continue to enjoy his moments of magic that make him one of the best attacking talents in the league.
Despite not playing in his natural position, Juan helped inspire his team to an important win and three crucial points in the race for Champions League qualification.
It’s funny how after all this spending, Juan Mata is still one of United’s best and most reliable players 🔥

Scrappy game, but in the end a good result against a team who to me look second rate, and could not get near united. but you must beat these teams to challenge. good result. Juan Mata, my Man of the match.

Nice comfortable win in the end. Glad the second half we saw a moment of Mata magic, a clinical Lukaku finish and Sanchez winning a penalty and scoring on his debut. Good to bounce back from Spurs. #mufc

Mata off for Rashford. Played well today. Played a big part in both goals. Gets a hug from Mourinho on his way off.

Unfortunately for Juan Mata, United have an abundance of talent in the attacking midfield position, meaning he’s less likely to feature in his preferred spot.
Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba are all capable of filling in there and it’s the Englishman who’s been given the nod of late due to his good form.
Sanchez has mainly featured from the left but has pretty much been given license to do as he likes with Mourinho enjoying the full extent of the player’s attacking versatility.
Presumably Mata wouldn’t even be given the opportunity to play there even if there was room since Jose seems to not be a fan of his small stature in the middle of the park, often preferring stronger or more pacy players.
