Manchester United fans encouraged by Scott McTominay’s performance vs Sevilla

Manchester United fans were largely encouraged by Scott McTominay‘s performance vs Seville in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Jose Mourinho’s men were lacklustre in their goalless draw against the Spanish side but the youngster was one of the few players who could walk off the pitch with his head held high.

McTominay started for only his second time in Europe’s top competition but showed little or no signs of nervousness or pressure.

The Scotsman was mostly composed and won the ball back well for United many times as he was tasked by Mourinho to man mark Ever Banega.

While most of his teammates will need to step up their game, Scott can proudly know he put in a very acceptable shift against tough opposition.

Supporters still appear to be split over the midfielder with some sections believing he isn’t good enough to start matches consistently for the Red Devils.

While it was strange to see Scott McTominay start ahead of Paul Pogba in an important European tie, it was still nice to see one of the academy’s products come through and repay his manager’s faith.

Concerned fans also believe that the youngster plays too safely to their liking given how Manchester United players are meant to be of high quality and naturally be risk takers.

It’s bizarre that some supporters believe McTominay should be the complete product at just 21 years of age, especially due to him growing match by match as he played confidently vs Sevilla.
