Manchester United star Anthony Martial has claimed his fellow teammate Paul Pogba is the best midfielder in the world.
Much has been made of the former Juventus man of late as fans and pundits alike continue to debate on how the club could get the best out of him.
It was clear from the time that Jose Mourinho invested a world record fee in him that Pogba would be the key man for United for at least the next decade.
The Portuguese gambled on building his whole side around the talented Frenchman and there are now concerns on whether the club are doing their best to facilitate the player.
Martial though isn’t focussing on those matters and discussed Paul’s raw talent instead, explaining why he’s the best midfielder in the world.
According to the Daily Mail, Anthony said to the Daily Star: “I would say Paul is probably the best midfield player in the world.
“Paul is very strong mentally and very sure of himself. He’s a big guy, he s very technical on the ball and has lots of endurance.
“And he’s still young, so he has a lot to work on and he can get even better. If he continues to improve, then I think he’s going to win the Ballon d’Or award in the next five years.”
Paul Pogba can certainly lead this Red Devils’ side to glory in the future and Mourinho clearly rates him highly but he will have to continuously prove his worth.
Much of the debate has been made about what formation Jose employs as the club’s alternate between a 4-2-3-1 and a 4-3-3.
4-2-3-1 clearly asks more defensively of the creative midfielder but it was a job that the former Chelsea manager believed his player could do.
Pogba is clearly not a defensive midfielder but with Nemanja Matic alongside him, all he was asked to do is make sure he’s not tactically exposing his teammates.
However, it appears that the academy product still isn’t a fan of it and enjoys the freedom the 4-3-3 formation allows him to have.
