Manchester United ready to open talks for Tottenham’s Eric Dier: report

Manchester United are reportedly set to make a serious move for Tottenham’s Eric Dier in the upcoming summer transfer window.

This summer sees the World Cup return to the international stage, forcing most clubs to conclude business early in order to avoid spiked fees.

Should the Englishman have an outstanding tournament, Spurs would certainly raise their value of him with it already being quite high.

Most of the London club’s stars have gained interest from clubs around Europe and there’s even talk of United being interested in Victor Wanyama as well.

Mauricio Pochettino clearly values Dier which would make the deal difficult to conclude but not impossible given how Jose Mourinho stole Nemanja Matic from Chelsea unexpectedly

According to Ninety Minutes Online, Transfer Market Web reports that the Red Devils are prepared to begin talks with a £55m bid for Eric.

Mourinho has made it clear publicly that he intends to reinvest in the club’s midfield given how there could be a few departures in the summer.

Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick both have contracts expiring soon with the latter expected to retire and the former to leave to Turkey.

Manchester United are said to have been keen on keeping the Belgian but reports claim he’s leaving in search of more match time.

Interest in Eric Dier would make sense but whether he’s the right signing or not is debatable which means fans could be split over the signing.

In terms of creativity in midfield Paul Pogba represents the only option United have so perhaps it would be more appropriate to sign cover for him.
