Manchester United star Eric Bailly has decided to send a message to the club’s fans following their loss to Sevilla in the Champions League.
Jose Mourinho’s men fell short in the knockout stages, losing 2-1 to the Spanish team after a performance described by many as embarrassing.
Many supporters have felt renewed frustrations after temporarily forgetting how dire their team can be following convincing wins vs Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Liverpool.
Bailly started the match for United and is one of the few players who could hold his head high after the match as he put in his usual solid display.
Despite his good showing, the Ivorian has felt the need to apologise to the club’s fans, asking for forgiveness for being knocked out of Europe’s elite competition early.
We ask the fans for forgiveness following our exit. Last night was terrible and we must all reflect and take note so it doesn't happen again. It's painful, but we have to get right back up, dust ourselves off, and look ahead. pic.twitter.com/knViVhAmcw

In terms of pure numbers, Eric has a few competitors to the centre-back position in the starting XI with it being one of the Red Devils overstocked departments.
Some fans would argue that the position is actually correctly stocked given how the club’s defenders tend to be injury prone.
Despite the number of competitors, the former Villarreal man is quite easily ahead of the rest of the back based on pure ability.
There’s no doubt that when he’s fit, Eric Bailly should be the first name on the team sheet in terms of the defensive side of things.
The question is who lines up alongside him rather than whether he makes the starting XI or not.
