The 22-year-old once again came under fire from his manager following Man United’s 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.
This latest scathing public appraisal has led to Shaw, exasperated by his manger’s continued berating of his performances, deciding to leave the club in the summer, while teammates were reportedly “shocked” by Mourinho’s comments.
And according to ESPN‘s Peter O’Rourke, the Toffees have taken note of Shaw’s predicament at Old Trafford and are monitoring him ahead of a potential summer bid.
The full-back never got the support he needed from Mourinho and he is now firmly heading for the exit door as a result.
All he needed, as seen through his run of form in December, was a string of games and an arm round the shoulder from his manager, but what he got instead was a place on the bench – watching Ashley Young, a 32-year-old winger, take his place – and a string of borderline personal jibes from Mourinho, leaving his confidence in tatters as a result.
Supporters will just hope that his next manager and club treats him with greater care and respect.
