Manchester United could be priced out of target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic: report

Manchester United and Jose Mourinho may be worried about how much Lazio value their transfer target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

The Portuguese manager may be priced out of a move for one of his priority signings in his bid to improve the club’s midfield.

Mourinho has publicly stated his happiness with United’s attacking options and has insisted that he will focus on his midfield and defence in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Milinkovic-Savic was one of the players they were reported to be keeping an eye on and with Europe’s top clubs lining up alongside the former Chelsea manager, Lazio can ask for whatever price they want.

Jose may be better off focusing on other talents despite the Serbian’s potential to be among the globe’s top footballers.

According to the Express, Corriere dello Sport, the Serie A side have priced Sergej at £131m since they have no pressure to sell to any clubs that are interested.

With reports previously claiming that Jose Mourinho has a budget of £200m set for the summer, spending more than half on it for a single player seems a little silly.

If the Red Devils only needed to address one problem then it may be fine to focus on one superstar signing but it’s clear there are other issues.

The full-back positions as well as the central defence all need better depth as well as some deadwood being moved on at the earliest opportunity.

Along with Michael Carrick‘s retirement, Marouane Fellaini‘s contract also runs out this summer meaning Mourinho may need two midfield men.
