Ander Herrera has claimed that Manchester United are not given enough credit for crucial victories over Liverpool and Chelsea.
Jose Mourinho’s men beat both clubs 2-1 with the results proving to be instrumental in the race for the Champions League spots.
United could’ve easily found themselves tumbling down the Premier League table if they didn’t secure all three points against both teams.
The top four race has perhaps never been as competitive as it has been this season, particularly with Manchester City securing top spot quite early.
Herrera though believes the results were brushed under the carpet due to the Red Devils’ failure to move past Sevilla in the Champions League.
According to the Sports Mole, Ander is quoted by the Sun saying: “They [Chelsea and Liverpool] were two very tough games, which were going to be key for the top four.
“We deserved both victories. Maybe we are not giving all the value to these victories because of what happened against Sevilla, which I feel very disappointed about.”
Ander Herrera has had a difficult second season under Mourinho’s management, failing to stake a claim in the starting XI as well as stay fit.
Having never truly been an injury prone player the Spaniard has struggled to remain available to his manager this Premier League campaign.
When Manchester United were going through a bit of a midfield injury crisis, it was Scott McTominay who stepped up to the plate.
The youngster’s impressive performances this season may have just seen him climb above Herrera in the pecking order.
There’s currently talk of AC Milan having interest in the former Atletico Bilbao man but it could be that Jose would wish to hold onto him.
Ander was United’s player of the season last year and can clearly have a role in this team but he’ll have to do more to win over his manager once again.
