Pep Guardiola has confirmed Sergio Aguero is an injury doubt ahead of his side’s clash with Manchester United at the Ethiad on Saturday.
Manchester City, sitting 16 points ahead of Man United, have the chance to wrap up the title at home to Jose Mourinho’s men.
Reports have claimed that Guardiola will field a weakened side against United given the clash comes in between their Champions League quarter-final tie with Liverpool.
And Guardiola, when asked whether the club’s top goalscorer would be fit to face United, replied: “We’ll see.”
“He is much, much better, but the physios and doctor spoke with him and he said he still wasn’t perfect. He is back in Manchester, I hope he will be back for Saturday.”
The Argentine has hardly been a regular in Guardiola’s side this season yet still has an astonishing 30 goals to his name, and anybody with the remotest knowledge of Premier League football could tell you he loves causing United plenty of pain.
At the same time, whether he does start or not is beside the point. So is the prospect of City fielding a weakened team. The likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and Danilo have all been largely consigned to the bench this term but could still form the bedrock for a storming attacking display.
