Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard has lauded his teammate Romelu Lukaku, claiming what the latter can achieve in his career is unimaginable.
The Belgian has had an outstanding first season at the club, scoring over twenty goals in all competitions so far with there still being two months remaining.
Lukaku has proven to be all that United expected he would be and there’s no surprise to hear of Jose Mourinho’s delight with him.
The former Everton man has needed little to no time to adjust to his new surroundings and it’s a credit to him that the club hasn’t felt the need to rely on anyone else.
Lingard’s recognised his colleague’s ability but more importantly focusses on Romelu’s future, insisting it’s beyond thinking about.
According to ESPN, Jesse said: “Rom [Lukaku] has come in and scored 20-plus goals in his first season. He’s still ever so young and the things he can achieve in his career don’t bear thinking about.
“At the moment, he’s doing well for us and that’s what we need right now. If he can carry on scoring between now and the end of the season, that will help us.”
Jesse’s had a fantastic season of his own, one that can be argued is his breakthrough one in terms of regularly staking a claim in the starting XI.
Once considered to be a decent back up option or a squad player, the Englishman is now someone who can cause serious damage on the pitch.
Jesse Lingard‘s certainly been a late bloomer but the wait has been worth it as he goes from strength to strength this campaign.
The versatile attacker’s one weakness was his finishing and it’s fair to say he’s added that to his arsenal to become a more complete player.
With double figures in goals this season, Lingard looks set to finish strong and can take this kind of form with him into the World Cup.
