Former Manchester United man Zlatan Ibrahimovic has backed Jose Mourinho to ‘shake’ Manchester City in tomorrow afternoon’s Manchester derby.
The two rivals will face off at the Etihad with Pep Guardiola’s men in need of all three points in order to secure the Premier League crown.
Mourinho will known that a defeat would be hugely costly to his team, not only in terms of morale but also due to the teams below them.
Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea are all chasing the Champions League positions and while United have held second place for most of the season, could potentially lose it if they don’t end on a positive note.
City though will be fired up but Ibrahimovic insists there’s no way Jose will allow Guardiola to get the better of him.
Jose Mourinho downplayed the importance of the derby however in his pre-match press conference, claiming that it was just another three points.
As much as it’s true, the Manchester derby is certainly a match that is hugely important to the supporters who may have been upset to hear what their manager said.
The Red Devils perhaps could’ve done with a bit of Zlatan’s leadership or experience against the Sky Blues but unfortunately he’s no longer available to the club.
The Swede icon had his contract mutually terminated last month in order for him to finally secure a move to the MLS franchise.
Many expected Zlatan Ibrahimovic to eventually join LA Galaxy after his time at Old Trafford but not until the end of the season.
