Axel Tuanzebe suffered a fresh injury blow during his loan spell at Aston Villa against Cardiff City on Tuesday night.
The youngster impressed with a run of games towards the end of last season and moved to Villa Park in January.
But he has been plagued with a variety of injury problems since joining up with Steve Bruce, making only two appearances since February 20.
And on what was just his fifth start for the Championship club, Tuanzebe picked up a knock just 26 minutes into the game to compound his frustration.
Tuanzebe is without doubt one of the most promising young defenders the club’s academy has produced in recent years. That much was clear on his first Premier League start at the Emirates in May last year, where he calmly dealt with the threat of Alexis Sanchez.
But his injury record provides cause for concern. His hamstrings seem to serve as a recurring issue, depriving him of minutes on loan and also of places in the squad earlier this season at Old Trafford.
