Anthony Martial does not want to leave Manchester United – report

by Leo Nieboer

Anthony Martial has no intention to leave Manchester United in the summer despite claims during the week suggesting otherwise, according to reports.

The Frenchman has been forced to the periphery of Jose Mourinho’s setup ever since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez, making just two Premier League starts.

RMC Sport reported on Tuesday afternoon that Martial, having grown exasperated at his lack of opportunities at Old Trafford, will seek a new challenge in the summer.

But according to M.E.N‘s Samuel Luckhurst, the 22-year-old has no desire to leave Old Trafford whatsoever.

It was claimed by the Independent‘s Miguel Delaney, just 40 minutes after the RMC report, that Martial’s first choice was to remain at Old Trafford.

These conflicting reports add suspicion to the whole affair. The Times then came out the day after with the claim that Martial would seek guarantees of more playing time from Mourinho in the summer, adding further confusion to the whole affair.

RMC is a generally reliable source but its mention of Tottenham Hotspur’s interest back in 2015 just doesn’t hold any truth whatsoever. You have to question the wider story as a result.

Such narratives surrounding Martial have emerged before; the best way he can silence them is by making an impact on the pitch.
