Paul Scholes names Marcus Rashford as the Man United attacker who midfielders dream to play with

Marcus Rashford is the perfect player to have on your team as a midfield player, claims former-Manchester United man Paul Scholes.

The midfield great hailed the young English striker, who was lively at AFC Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium on Wednesday evening as Man United cruised to a comfortable 2-0 victory.

Rashford started as part of a fluid front three for Jose Mourinho’s side, alongside Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial. After Romelu Lukaku, he moved to the right flank, and impressed there, too.

It’s a rare start for Rashford, who has been mainly used off the substitutes bench in the last couple of months.

“He was excellent,” Scholes told BT Sport after the final whistle on the south coast.

“He brings legs and excitement to the team. He can go either way, he can fly past people, he runs through.”

Scholes said he would have loved to play with Rashford because of the academy graduate’s pace and finishing ability.

“He’s great for a midfield player to have as well,” Scholes continued, “because you know there’s someone on the shoulder who can score goals.”

Rashford has now played 46 games this season under Mourinho, split into 23 starts and 23 sub appearances. Starting against Bournemouth was a chance to push himself into the starting line-up for Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final.

He will have impressed Mourinho, with his on and off the ball movement stretching the Bournemouth defence and he never over-complicated things, something Mourinho was very critical of the whole team in the recent 1-0 defeat to West Brom.
