Cristiano Ronaldo has shown his class with yet another superb gesture towards Marcus Rashford, sending the youngster a signed shirt inscribed with a message encouraging him to “keep up the good work” at Manchester United.
Rashford has only managed two Premier League starts since the turn of the year but remains Jose Mourinho’s most used player since the Portuguese arrived at Old Trafford.
The current Ballon d’Or holder, who Rashford idolised growing up, recently sent the 20-year-old a pair of his new trainers.
And he has gone a step further, personally signing a Madrid shirt for Rashford and encouraging him to keep going in the same direction.

This is an unnecessarily generous gift from a man who clearly has plenty of time for Rashford. There is something to be said for the fact that, out of all the young footballers out there, the greatest player in the world pinpoints the Englishman as one writing home about.
Perhaps there is, dare I say it, a hint of the young Ronaldo in Rashford’s game that the 33-year-old admires: that raw speed across the ground, a capacity to beat opponents, dangerous through the middle and out wide, a boisterous talent with some rough edges.
Mourinho has spoken highly of him recently, along with many senior figure in the football world. But none come close to getting the seal of approval from Ronaldo himself.
