Former Manchester United man Paul Parker has revealed that Jesse Lingard has impressed him and believes the club need him in their midfield.
The Englishman has experienced his breakthrough season this campaign in terms of how he’s managed to go from being a useful rotational option to a reliable first team player.
Lingard’s been a part of the club since he was a kid and was always considered to be a late bloomer with fans now witnessing his true talent.
The academy man’s intelligence, pace and dribbling has seen him quickly become one of Jose Mourinho’s most trusted players.
Parker believes Jesse deserves more credit and lauds him for what he brings to United’s starting XI that perhaps others don’t.
According to the Daily Star, Paul said to Starsport: “One player that’s impressed me is Jesse Lingard. He’s one that a team needs in that midfield because of his energy levels and the fact that he can score a decisive goal.
“He’s got great movement off the ball and he can finish. In some games, everything they’ve done going forward, he is involved.”
Jesse Lingard‘s versatility has also helped him keep his place in the starting XI regardless of what formation Jose Mourinho has used this season.
The Portuguese manager has mainly alternated between the 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1, trusting the 25 year old to perform regardless of what role he’s asked to carry out.
In a 4-3-3, Lingard’s asked to be more of a traditional winger but in the 4-2-3-1 Mourinho uses him in his preferred position as an attacking midfielder.
