From Italy: Jose Mourinho gives green light for Anthony Martial to leave Manchester United

Jose Mourinho has given the green light for Manchester United to dispense with Anthony Martial over the summer, according to reports from Italy.

The Frenchman hasn’t scored for Man United since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez in January, making just four Premier League starts in that time.

He was subject to criticism from his manager following an ineffective display against Brighton and Hove Albion amid further reports of a breakdown in relations between the pair.

And according to Italian media outlet Tuttosport, the 55-year-old has grown exasperated with the winger, reportedly subject to interest from Juventus, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Barcelona, and will allow him to find a new club in the summer.

A report just a few days ago from France suggested that Mourinho was in fact prepared to offer Martial a more regular role down the centre of attack for next season, although it is unlikely that the Frenchman will be persuaded to stay even if he is guaranteed more time in his favourite position.

Every summer has its saga. The Alvaro Morata and Romelu Lukaku run-in was the feature of the most recent summer window; the one before was dominated by Paul Pogba.

You cannot help but feel as if, this time around, talk will heavily centre around Martial.
