Paul Pogba feels like he’s “doing Manchester United a favour” by playing for them

Ex-Premier League striker Tony Cascarino has publicly slated Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba following his poor display in Friday night’s 1-0 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Pogba made a phenomenal start to the season, scoring and assisting goals all over the shop, but injuries have tarnished his form and he has ended up enduring another frustrating campaign at Old Trafford.

Since returning from Juventus for a then-world record £89m after a four-year stint with the Serie A giants, Pogba has been heavily criticised for not living up to his price tag by fans and pundits alike.

One pundit who has been more vocal than others with his thoughts on Paul Pogba is Tony Cascarino, who had a lot to say during Talk Sport’s ‘Weekend Sports Breakfast’ show on Saturday.

He said: “[Pogba’s] got this swagger when he plays and I do believe he has a feeling like he’s doing Manchester United a favour by being at Old Trafford.

“We’re not privy to what goes on on a day-to-day basis at Old Trafford and at Carrington on the training ground. But what we’re pretty sure of is that Jose Mourinho isn’t happy with him. He’s left him out at times this season. He’s not made him a scapegoat because he deserves to be left out.”

His quality is certainly there and he’s shown that at times during his second stint at United, but Cascarino has put his recent demise down to “bad decision-making,” something that will need to be improved if he is to ever prove he is worth the amount Jose Mourinho was happy to spend on him.
