Arsenal legend Robert Pires has revealed that he would welcome Anthony Martial at the Emirates Stadium in the summer if he was to become available after his relationship with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has seemingly turned sour.
Martial was enjoying a good season at United and was consistently featuring before Mourinho decided to bring Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez to the club in the January transfer window as part of a swap deal for another forward whose game time became rapidly problematic- Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Alexis was introduced as a regular starter straight away, which has seen Martial have to make do with an off-the-bench role along with Marcus Rashford; both players have been told by fans and pundits alike in search for more game time.
Robert Pires believes Martial’s undeniable talents are being wasted at United, and recently said: “I’m a big fan of Anthony Martial. He’s very fast, he has excellent dribbling skills and he has the potential to score a lot of goals, but I think he has to play more football.
“I don’t know why he isn’t playing more for Manchester United and Jose Mourinho needs to show more confidence in him. I would welcome him at Arsenal.”
At this moment, it’s looking like Martial is a lot more likely to leave than Rashford, but either moving to Arsenal can only be classed as very unrealistic considering the current ordeal the club is in.
