Scott McTominay: Liverpool win was my highlight of the season

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United’s Scott McTominay has revealed the win over Liverpool as his highlight of the season and explained precisely why.

The youngster has had a breakthrough season in terms of becoming a more important figure for the club in comparison to before.

McTominay only made his debut for United a year ago but has been trusted by Jose Mourinho many times this campaign and in important matches too.

One of those matches was against the Reds and it’s clear to see how much it meant for the academy product, particularly since the game ended in victory for his club.

The Scotsman still has plenty to prove but it’s good to see him to take positives out of his season and even better to see his delight at beating Jurgen Klopp’s men.

According to the club’s official website, Scott said: “The Liverpool game [highlight of McTominay’s season]. I felt that was one of the best feelings I’ve ever had.

“I’m a United fan myself and it doesn’t get much better than beating Liverpool. With Marcus Rashford scoring as well, it was an unbelievable day for the Academy.”

Scott McTominay still has some doubters despite winning Mourinho over but the more he plays the more it should all disappear.

The youngster was criticised for playing too safe at the start of his career though it was understandable given the circumstances.

McTominay did get more adventurous the more match time he was afforded but he will have to continue stepping up in order to become a regular for the club.
