Scott McTominay eyeing ‘dream’ spot in FA Cup Final squad

Scott McTominay is eyeing a place in Jose Mourinho’s FA Cup Final squad after Manchester United secured second place in the Premier League with a 0-0 draw against West Ham United on Thursday night.

McTominay played the full 90 minutes in what was his 21st appearance in all competitions this season after being promoted to the first team and impressing in midfield when given the opportunity to do so.

The 21-year-old has been a part of the club since the age of five and has grown in staff’s estimations after physically growing 14 inches within the space of two years, now standing at 6ft 4in.

After full-time in the dull stalemate at the London Stadium, McTominay told Sky Sports that it would be a dream come true to feature in the FA Cup Final against Chelsea on May 19.

“It was a big point for us tonight. It was our objective to finish second but we are disappointed to not take the three points. It’s every boy’s dream to play in a cup final so we will see.

“For me personally it was a positive night, me and Luke Shaw had the opportunity to play and impress the staff. It’s every boy’s dream to play in a cup final so we will see.”

Only time will tell if McTominay and Shaw are to play a part in, arguably, United’s biggest game of the season at Wembley Stadium later on in the month, but you’d fancy the former’s chances over the latter’s.
