David de Gea was handed his 2017-18 Premier League Golden Glove award ahead of Manchester United’s win over Watford on Sunday afternoon.
United won the game 1-0 at Old Trafford thanks to Marcus Rashford‘s 34th-minute tap-in, created by Michael Carrick who retires from playing duties this summer to become a member of Jose Mourinho’s coaches.
De Gea was confirmed as the winner of the award after keeping his 18th league clean sheet of the season at the London Stadium in the 0-0 draw against West Ham United on Thursday night.

Despite his growing reputation as the world’s best goalkeeper throughout his seven-year stint at the club, this is surprisingly the first Golden Glove for De Gea.
He has featured in plenty of ‘Team of the Seasons’ and has won the Manchester United Sir Matt Busby Player of the year award four times in five years, but the Golden Glove is an honour which has always eluded him.
His closest challengers for the crown this season were Manchester City’s Emerson, who accumulated 16 clean sheets, in front of Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois and Hugo Lloris Tottenham Hotspur who both achieved 15.
