Giuseppe Rossi: Joining Manchester United was a dream come true

Former Manchester United man Giuseppe Rossi has claimed his favourite striking duo was Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole and admitted it was a dream come true to move to Old Trafford.

The Italian only made a handful of appearances for the club after joining as a 17 year old but still looks back at his time fondly.

Rossi was sent out on loan to both Newcastle United and Parma before eventually leaving to Villareal permanently in 2007.

He’s since become a fully fledged international and played for clubs such as Serie A sides Fiorentina and current club Genoa.

Though he failed to make the grade with the Red Devils, it’s fair to say he’s had a decent career regardless and reminisces of his time with the legends of the game.

According to Forza Italian Football, Guiseppe said: “I was a big fan of Manchester United prior to even going there. My favourite striking duo was Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole. They were the best.

“The best that I had ever seen play together. And I really enjoyed watching them play. At 17, I see this person at my training ground that gives me a pin and said ‘This team wants you’.

“I look down at the pin and it’s Manchester United, and I said, ‘Wow, man, that’s amazing!’. Fast forward a few months and I’m sitting in front of Sir Alex Ferguson, I’m getting a tour from people around Carrington… it was a dream come true.”

United could certainly do with his goals and creative play currently as they head into the FA Cup final clash with Chelsea in not so great form.

Since losing out on the title to Manchester City, Jose Mourinho’s men have been incapable of remaining focussed and finishing off the campaign in style.

Either way, they can make amends by beating the Blues and securing a third trophy in the Portuguese manager’s two years at the club.
