Alexis Sanchez expresses excitement ahead of FA Cup final with Chelsea

Alexis Sanchez has expressed his enthusiasm as the clock ticks down on Manchester United’s FA Cup final meeting with Chelsea.

The Chilean, who has won the trophy twice, netted the opener for Arsenal against Chelsea in last year’s FA Cup final.

He produced a rampant performance against Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-final last month, heading home an equaliser in the second half.

And Sanchez has taken to social media to voice his excitement ahead of the biggest game of Man United’s season.

The 29-year-old has earned the title of being something of a Wembley specialist ever since arriving on these shores, claiming eight goals in total at the grand old stadium.

More pertinently, though, he is a player whose already highly revved engine seems to tangibly go up another gear in these big games. The way he sprung around the pitch, full of thrust and grit, against Spurs helped to set the tone for an indefatigable collective display.

And he will know that doing the same against this Chelsea side – certainly dangerous but prone to stagnancy at times – will cause problems against a defence which has come under serious scrutiny this season.

Cup finals are usually won by moments of cool precision. That Paul Pogba cross which Sanchez headed home against Spurs, for example, was a turning point. And supporters will pray for a moment of perfect execution once again from their new signing.
