Olivier Giroud is looking forward to facing former team-mate Alexis Sanchez in the 2018 Emirates FA Cup Final on Saturday evening.
Manchester United are searching for a record-equalling 13th capture of the famous trophy and face Chelsea, who feature in their second consecutive final after losing 2-1 to Giroud and Alexis’ Arsenal last season.
Giroud and Alexis are very familiar with each other, spending four years together at the Emirates Stadium before both moving to different Premier League rivals in the January transfer window.
In the latter stages of their time at Arsenal, they competed for the first-choice spot up front, but a lot of the time linked up extremely well as part of an attacking line in the left-wing and striker positions.
Ahead of the final at Wembley Stadium, Giroud said he’s glad to reunite with his good friend: “I will be happy to see him. It’s always special to play against old players, especially when we have good memories.”
Both players will have their game faces on as the action gets underway though, and Giroud poses a big threat to Jose Mourinho’s side as he finds himself unbeaten in matches at the national stadium.
Alexis has a similarly impressive Wembley record though, netting in each of his eight games there, and both men scored in their respective semi-finals to help the two clubs reach this stage.
It’s an incredibly difficult match to call, but what can be promised is yet another dramatic clash between these two English giants.
