Pundit Jermaine Jenas has blasted Jose Mourinho for his comments on Marcus Rashford following the Brighton game, admitting disgust for what happened.
The Portuguese manager had taken an opportunity following Manchester United’s loss to Brighton to point out that this was the reason why he always plays Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian had missed the match having sustained an injury against Arsenal and it was Rashford who took his place to little effect, apparently infuriating his manager.
While Mourinho didn’t drop any names directly, it was clear that he wasn’t happy with how the Englishman led the line and Jenas is unhappy with how it all developed.
Marcus was also selected to play alongside Alexis Sanchez in the loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup final and was substituted off the field in favour of Anthony Martial.
According to Sports Mole, Jermaine said to BBC Sport: “I found what Mourinho did after that Brighton game was disgusting. I really did. I think when you’re managing a young player like Marcus Rashford as well.
“That was a direct shot at Rashford. It was almost like he enjoyed the failure of Rashford. It gave him the opportunity to go, ‘well you lot shut up now. I’m right and you’re wrong.’ And that is not a point that you should be using on a young player.”
Though the pop Jose had was more directed to the media questioning his decision making than Marcus Rashford‘s talent, it still wasn’t nice to see him being made an example of.
Against the Blues the academy player was once more asked to fill in Lukaku’s boots but it was clear to see he’s simply not the same type of player.
