Rio Ferdinand: Me and Paul Scholes looked at each other and though ‘wow’

Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes have admitted to be shocked by Jose Mourinho’s decision to substitute Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard during the clash with Chelsea in the FA Cup.

Antonio Conte’s men managed to overcome Manchester United on Saturday to win the prestigious competition by securing a 1-0 result with Eden Hazard scoring the only goal of the game through a penalty.

Phil Jones was the culprit for giving away the penalty and although he was made the scapegoat, most of the squad were poor on the day and certainly could’ve done more.

United were turgid in the first half and improved in the second with Mourinho opting against making any half time changes, proving that it was down to the players mentalities.

During the match Rashford and Lingard were taken off in order to introduce both Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku to the match but unfortunately neither made an impact.

The truth is as good as Marcus and Jesse are, the Red Devils were in need for a change and Martial and Lukaku were the best of the bunch from the bench though there is a point to be made that Alexis Sanchez should’ve been subbed off.
